Book Review - The Love Dare
Mrs. Cowley and I recommend for Faith and Family members the Book; The Love Dare, by Stephen and Alex Kendrick .
The book was featured in the Movie Fireproof. It is a forty study study guide for couples to strengthen or reconstruct their marriage. Scripture from the Holy Bible is interwoven with each of the studies for support and reference. We used the book last year and found it valuable to strength our 46+ year marriage. We are now working through it again this year as a reminder of how precious our relationship and marriage is to each of us.
The Scriptures say that God designed and created marriage as a good thing. It is a beautiful and priceless gift. God uses marriage to help us eliminate loneliness, multiply our effectiveness, establish families, raise children, enjoy life, and bless us with relational intimacy. The book is about love. It is about learning and daring to live a life filled with loving relationships. And this journey begins with the person closest to us; our spouse.
The Love Dare may help you to think differently, choosing to lead with your heart toward that which is best in the long run. It is not a process of trying to change your spouse to be the person you want them to be. Rather it is a journey of exploring and demonstrating genuine love in your marriage relationship.
Each day your journey will contain three important elements: First, a unique aspect of love will be discussed. Second, you will be given a specific dare to do for your spouse. Third, you may journal what you are learning and how your spouse is responding.
